Monticello | Wayne County

Oct 3 - Oct 6, 1990 | People's Better Here

Monticello is a small town where a slower pace of life, strong community ties, and pride in local heritage continue to define daily life. Although new industries and development outside the town square have contributed to the decline of its once-bustling downtown, longtime residents still gather there to socialize and celebrate the friendliness that sets their community apart. As resident Willis Daniels reflected, “The old dies off and the young moves on…that’s life,” capturing the town’s balance between preserving tradition and adapting to change.
