Columbia | Jane Alexander

by Jane Alexander
“Baby” : Crowder’s duties include welcoming new lives into the world, such a Sarah Lou Thompson, born to Amy and Rodney on Sept. 30, 1992.
Crowder laughs with with barber Bob Willis.Willis says,”I keep telling Brother Crowder that I’ll change from Methodist to Baptist if he’ll change to Republican.”
Because he works long and hard, Crowder treasures the time spent with his family, he and his wife, Mabel, keep connected and give thanks for their good fortune.
Much of Crowder’s time is spent visiting and offering prayers to the sick, such as 96-year-old Lula Bell Simpson, recently home from the hospital. Crowder says one unique aspect of Columbia is that so many people live so long. “You’re not even considered middle-aged until you get to be 85.”
