Doug and Denise Holder have owned Indigo Blues, a clothing store in Lafayette, for eight years. The store specializes in casual clothing for adolescents and teen-agers.As a family-run business, Indigo Blues has a comfortable atmosphere. Customers can hear Nicholas Holder, 5, race up and down the aisles, his feet funding the store’s wood floor.Denise and her son play hide-and-seek while Doug does business on the phone.Combining work with play, Joni studies for a spelling test and wrestles with her brother, Nicholas, while riding to her violin lesson.Bedtimes comes between 8 and 9 p.m. for the youngsters. Then Doug and Denise can relax.The family gives its support during Joni’s nightly 30-minute violin practice.Paul Curtis and his friends spend most of their time in the Lafayette town square trading knives, chewing tobacco and whittling cedar.
