Albany | Rex Perry

Willie Goodman, 69, a retired farmer, sells fruits and vegetables from a roadside stand along Highway 127.
Sallye Young, 17, holds her daughter, Amber, while studying in her kitchen. Sallye is a strong student who dreams of a career in commercial art.
Sallye catches the bus near home with other school-age children. When Sallye boards the bus for Clinton County High School she can be a free spirited his school student. But when she gets back home, she must also be a young mother.
Sallye bathes her daughter in the sink of the home she lives in with her father. Sallye’s mother died 10 years before Amber was born, and Sallye has had o learn to take care of her daughter on her own.
Sallye’s boyfriend, John Telling, 29, cuddles with Amber at Sallye’s house. Though he is not Amber’s father, he cares for her as though she were his daughter.
Sallye has to get up every morning at 5:30 a.m. to get her daughter ready for the baby sitter, get herself ready for school and make breakfast for her father, Lonnie.
Dew drops cling to a grasshopper frozen in place after a damp night in Clinton County.
Willie ‘Buster’ Taylor drives his two-mule team out on his farm south of Albany. Taylor, 80, a retired farmer, still enjoys working with his two mules Dude, left, and Red for chores around his farm.
