Jamestown Police Chief Steve Taylor

The walls of Jamestown’s police station are lined with portraits of the past police chiefs of Jamestown. At the end of the line is current police chief Steve Taylor.

Taylor,47, is the first black police chief in the small, predominately white, rural community of Jamestown. He has been police chief for four years. The job of police chief requires Taylor to be friendly yet firm. He may be talking with the townspeople near his office in the town square one moment and working a serious auto accident minutes later. Taylor takes his job very seriously, but never lets his badge get in the way of his relationship with the people of Jamestown.
