Shelley Johnson, 55, lives in a trailer near Pleasant Grove Baptist church. He has been blind since he was 20. Propped in a corner of his trailer is Bear’s white cane which he only uses Monday’s and Thursdays when he visits the social services center – the supplier of the came.

Ellie and Amy Lipshuts, owners of Dottidale Kennel, relocated from Hillbrook, New York to rural Liberty, KY to continue to raise prize winning Dalmatians. It was an interesting move for sisters. “There was no adjustments for us,” Ellie said. “The adjustments was for the neighbors,” she said. “We were the ladies from New York and the story was we were coming here with 100 poodles,” Amy added.
Shelley Johnson, 55, lives in a trailer near Pleasant Grove Baptist church. He has been blind since he was 20. “I’ve been thinking about going back to blind school. Iv’e got to quit fooling around and get there before this cold weather comes and I can’t get around – no mobility,” Bear said.

Shelley Johnson, 55, lives in a trailer near Pleasant Grove Baptist church. He has been blind since he was 20. The many years of walking from his trailer to the grocery store and church have given Bear a good familiarity of the route.
Shelley Johnson, 55, lives in a trailer near Pleasant Grove Baptist church. He has been blind since he was 20. In church, Bear sits in the same pew every Sunday, praying to God and singing along with the rest of the congregation.
