You can call him Jay or you can call him Ray Jay or you can call him James Hoover. Whatever you call him, you can be sure that
everyone in town will know who you’re talking about.
James Hoover is known throughout Edmonton as a distant cousin of J. Edgar Hoover and has been a resident of Edmonton for all his 58 years. In that time, he has helped to build the town – from installing fire hydrants to checking water meters – promoting Edmonton all the way.
The towns’ people have come to depend on him.
“I believe in helping my people,” he said. “I believe in staying among my people.”
Dolly Smith, a waitress at C &’s, said, “We kid him a lot, but we miss him when he’s not around.”
