Each weekday morning around 8 a.m. students between 4 and 21 file into the basement of the Living Word Assembly of God Church in Burkesville to start another day of school.
Tim Hall, who is pastor of the church and principal to the fifteen students, said the classes are part of the accelerated Christian education system which is growing in churches around the country.
“We were dissatisfied with the public school system and wanted to offer an alternative,” Hall said.
Students in the Christin school are taught on a self-paced system of education where there is no grade program Each pupil has his own cubical where he sits and works a lesson or takes tests at his own pace. If a student has a question, an American flag is raised at the cubical and one of the three teacher will help.
The system is founded on the traditional basics in education with an emphasis on religion: and strict discipline.
