Jason’s ladder

Jason Langley, 23, is an ex-convict and recovering addict who is trying to turn his life around through the power of hairdos.

After a stint in prison at 18 for stealing and destroying two golf carts and burglarizing a golf pro shop, Jason, who has always been enthralled with hair as a medium for self-expression, enrolled in cosmetology school. He is now learning about highlighting, deep-conditioning and regaining control of his life.

Jason says he battles stereotypes. Although he served time and was an addict, he says he is not a bad person. And although he is a cosmetologist, he says he is not gay. Jason refuses to be pigeonholed, and he said that learning to become comfortable in his own skin has helped him confront and dismantle the preconceived notions of others.
