Bob Thompson, 76, mayor of Lawrenceburg from 1994 to 1998, has lived in Anderson county all his life. Currently in his retirement, Bob admits that he "just likes to play and have fun."
Bob Thompson ties his black bowtie, a characteristic element of his attire as Colonel Bob Thomas. "When I first started out, and I still do, I had a tough time finding white double breasted suits....I get most of them off of ebay."
Bob Thompson dressed up as "The Colonel". After his 62nd birthday he decided he would stop shaving, subsequently "grew into" the colonel, and has since won 12 of the 16 look alike contests at the World Chicken Fair. "I like to meet people, I'm not an entertainer."..."About all I've got to offer is my good looks."

Angie Brown, a nurse at the Health Apartment, prepares to give Colonel Bob Thompson a flu shot. "It's no different than giving anybody else a shot. I grew up here in Anderson county, so I've seen him as the Colonel all my life."
Colonel Bob Thompson greets Lawrenceburg locals during senior night at Dairy Queen. "I go there more to socialize than to eat food."
